Presence in Covid-19 Crisis
The safety and well-being of Presencia family is our highest priority. Learn more about what COVID-19 means for us. Presencia Covid Plan
The COVID-19 crisis offers serious challenges for already-vulnerable immigrant families. Our staff is rooted in this community, and we are working to get much-needed resources and care to our neighbors.
Each of our 6 mentoring staff are assigned 5 kids every Tuesday for 1 hour in-person tutoring, serving a total of 30 kids. These pods will stay the same all semester. We do shifts through out the day, cleaning in between. We follow CDC guidelines. We wear masks, take temperatures, distance, and have acrylic barriers.
On Fridays, we dedicate time to staff development and leadership training for our Program Mentors, and host a 1-2 hour outdoor activity for our Presencia students. Included in these outdoor activities will be guest speakers, performing arts classes, and dance classes once a month.
We pay our young staff to do this important work, and we invite you to join us in empowering them to love our immigrant neighbors!
Through neighborhood based tutoring, mentoring and personal development, Presencia helps kids see the beauty in themselves and recognize it in others, inspiring the next generation of leaders in Atlanta's immigrant community.
No matter how big or small, rich or poor, documented or undocumented, you have something beautiful to offer the world.
We invite you to join us!

“Presencia Goods” Social Enterprise:
Presencia’s pop-up shops and online store sell “Presencia Goods,” a curated collection of jewelry and gifts sourced from around the world. Some items are made by community members, immigrant neighbors and supporters of Presencia, who volunteer their time and skills to make hand-crafted products for Presencia Goods.
Part of Presencia’s vision is to empower youth through providing employment and real-world vocational training. In addition to offering paid staff positions for high school students as program mentors, Presencia Goods’ pop-up shops provide sales and retail positions for high school youth. Presencia Goods is both a vocational training model for youth and key source of income for Presencia. In 2019, Presencia Goods contributed nearly 10% of our operating budget.
Each items comes tagged with info about Presencia.
Your purchase provides an opportunity for us to build community, share about the work of Presencia, give our young leaders retail and customer service experience for their resumes, and creates a space for our Presencia leaders to share their stories!
Having a new toy, a game to play with siblings, new books to read... all these things help our Presencia kids stay mentally healthy during the Covid-19 crisis. Some of us have more than enough and this is a great opportunity to share. You could even ship it to us through Amazon or other websites if you want!
